RCMTC Michigan Championship Final Results!
Tues April 19th, 2011
The RCMTC Michigan Championship Final was outstanding! Big thanks to everyone who helped make this series possible and to the racers for making the competition fun and exciting. We had the largest turnout of trucks this season on Saturday and the day ran very smoothly. We raced 3 rounds and had a Freestyle competition, a Pot Luck lunch for everybody, had the decal sale drawing, handed out awards for points finishers and overall just had a blast. The racing was very close all day long and seeing the classes fighting for the top spot for the points was awesome. I have to give a big thanks to my kids and my wife for their encouragement and support of this club, it means the world to me.
The Novice class was a blast to watch all year long and to see all the kids improving on their skills every month was really cool. Stephen pulled off the big win and came in first place for Novice. Grant rocked everybody with his stellar Freestyle performance and took home a new Pro Line F-650 body and Hot Wheels decals. Pro Lite proved to be a huge success for us and will remain a class to stay in our events. John's WK's will be a force to be reckoned with next season as he is very quick with them and they perform outstanding. Pro Mod was our premier class and the racing on Saturday was very close and many races were down to the clock telling the tale. Congrats to Jon Zyck for taking the class top spot on the box with his TTR Ripper Pro and to Phil Grande for the win in Freestyle and he took home a new Pro Line Silverado body w/ a ZRP servo mount.
Our support from CPE, RCMT, Hesse Machine and the Kellogg Education Center is greatly appreciated and we look forward to many more seasons together with them. I would also like to thank all the RCMTC chapters for their support and encouragement for our series. It is great to be a part of the MT sector of the RC hobby and to see so many Straight Axle trucks together in one place is really awesome. We will always strive to bring the best in Replica Monster Jam racing for years to come and look forward to our Outdoor season starting up soon.
Stay tuned for videos from our filming master John as he captured lots of video from Saturdays festivities.
Thank you to our guests from the IL chapter for coming up and racing with us in our Championship Final. It was great spending the day with you all.

RCMTC Round #6 Results
Mon Mar 14th, 2011
The Michigan MONSTERS were burning down the gym at Round # 6 of the RCMTC-MI Series Championship. This was our second to final round of the points series and the day was smooth and fast! We had a great time and a solid day of racing was had by everyone. The track was a 1 lap track and made for some really close races. The Novice class racers are all becoming seasoned pro drivers before our very own eyes and how exciting it is to see Josh honing his skills and taking the top of the box for the day in points with his General Lee truck. Pro Lites saw a small class of 4 but we all had a blast running our trucks to the edge of their capabilities and nailing some rather competitive lap times. Clint with his USA1 and John with Outlaw 34 tied for the day in points as this class is proving to be a really fun class to run. Pro Modified class was a thrilling day of competition as we had so many close races that were decided into the tenths of seconds for winners. Jon's Bigfoot 2K series points leader took home the gold for the day by nailing the top spot on the podium. Overall it was our smoothest round of our inaugural season as we are applying all that we have learned throughout this season so far and making things click. We are all excited about next month as we head into the Championship final, try to join us or stay tuned as we conclude our indoor season and gear up for outdoors!

RCMTC Round #5 Results
Mon Feb 14th, 2011
The Radio Controlled Monster Truck Challenge in Michigan was at it again this past Saturday and once again having a great time with friends and racers trying to put their trucks on top of the podium. The weather turned out great and almost everyone was in attendance from our normal group and we had some guests this month from the IL chapter and our newest Novice racer Julia Zyck joined us for her first ever Monster Jam event. Rich and Danny made the trip up from IL to join us and bring some IL heat to our wintery mix up here in Michigan. The track was fast with some big air finishes that had a few trucks cartwheeling across the carpet and a few wheels were caught rolling across the track after hardware failure got the best of a few trucks. Most all were back in time for the next stop at the tree to race once again. Jimmy Grahl brought his A game on Saturday and swept the Pro Mod class with Bigfoot Tonka and Team GT, Bigfoot Tonka turned in a 13.8 second lap in Round 4 that was blistering fast for this track. Jon is still in the points lead with Bigfoot 2K keeping the Big Dawg in his pen this round and matching points for the day. Leaving them with a 3 pt spread for the top two positions in Pro Mod. Stephen has found the setup that makes Blue Thunder tick and took all 4 rounds of Novice staying ahead of the competition by 3+ seconds per lap, Zane was close behind and they are both coming into the final two rounds with just 6 points separating 1st and 2nd place in the standings. Julia Zyck is a drag racer we found out hitting a .006 reaction time on the tree! WOW!! Nice job Julia... Our newest Class Pro Lite saw 5 entries this round and it was loaded with CPE race trucks. We had 1 original Stallion, my Super Stallion and Amsoil GP, Clint's Terminator and Lukes Ground Pounder GP. All the Pro Lite racers really enjoyed this class and I do believe it will be here to stay. We learned one thing about having this track as we hoped to bring the thrill of Monster Jam oval style to our series, well you have a blind spot at one time during your race no matter where you stood. It proved to be tougher than it looked and kept racers on their toes to get both of those front tires up the ramp! None the less it was a excellent day of racing with 24 Pro Mod, 5 Pro Lite and 8 Novice trucks. I thank everybody who made the trip up and joined us at our 5th Round of the RCMTC-MI!!

RCMTC Round #4 Results
Sun Jan 9th, 2011
The Michigan Monsters of RC had their 4th round of the RCMTC-MI Points series this past Saturday and what a race it was. Very challenging track for all the racers and we completed 4 rounds of racing and had a great time with friends. The snow held off allowing a few of the racers to enjoy the day laying some laps down with their Clods. We had a great turnout w/ 18 Pro Mod trucks and 8 Novice. We started our Pro Lite w/ a exhibition round of the Ground Pounders. Luke and I got them over Xmas break and we ran ours a few times up against each other. I let a few of the other drivers run mine, we should have this class up and going with a few more trucks next round. I was running mid 15's and having a blast with it. Our track layout was unique and you started in the staging gates, take off and head for the center of the track at which you have a gate you had to enter to go onto the oval, make two laps around with the jumps being at the far end of the corners and back out the gate and turn to the finish gates. The entry gates were bigger for Novice and smaller for Pro classes. It turned out pretty cool and I received many compliments on my design so thanks guys!! Onto the points...

RCMTC Round #3 Results
Sun Dec 12th, 2010
The Michigan MONSTERS of RC had our 3rd round of the Radio Controlled Monster Truck challenge on Saturday December 11th and what a great day of racing and the largest turnout of trucks for the club so far. We had 21 Pro Modified trucks and 7 Novice racers to battle it out for points in the Championship hunt in April. I would like to thank Jimmy G. and Dan DuFore for making the trip in to race with us, these two are great guys to hang with and excellent racers who like to have fun. We also had 3 new faces in the Novice class this round. My daughter Katie brought out her Scarlet Bandit WK to battle against Grant Payers Iron Outlaw, a pair that would indeed make Mr. Creten proud to see. Also new comer to the hobby was Seth Beach who piloted the CPE Predator Backwards Bob and put on a most impressive display of natural talent for his first go around with a controller in his hand. Most of us were counting on rather bad weather but it held off till the evening and Sunday so we lucked out! We also introduced our new timing system and light tree. It gave us that extra bit of realism to our form of racing and really is fun to "watch the lights" and try to get that extra quick reaction time. We were able to complete 3 rounds of racing and had to ditch Freestyle because of time delays on this race day. I had some issues with our software and it delayed our racing a few times, my huge apologies for this. We will have this all squared around by January, I did not have much time for testing as I just got the system completed on Thursday evening before the race day. Thanks to Kevin and his kids for making the trip out to see us and we hope to have him racing with us in January. Thanks to Margaret for filming our races and bringing the MONSTER Rice Krispy treat.
Novice class was super competitive and the racers all had a smile on their face. Newcomers Grant and Seth both made it to the final race in two of the rounds on Saturday and put the pressure on Zane our Novice points leader but they could not stop him from taking home the wins. Zane put on a solid performance and took all 3 Round wins.
Pro Modified had a great day of racing and some very fast laps were laid down. The mid 10's were the hot ticket of the day and Dan DuFore even broke the 10 sec mark with a couple mid 9 laps. Jimmy and Dan really brought the heat and kept everyone on their game and gave our club points leader Jon Zyck a run for his money. Scotty K's Tenacity truck is really gaining momentum and Clint B our CPE Teminator man is solid as a rock with MLB. Everyone of our new racers is improving each round and lots of talk about how much fun everyone is having. The Michigan Chapter of the RCMTC is really improving and we are all happy to be a part of it.

Sun Nov 14th, 2010
The Michigan Monsters of RC had their second points series race on November 13th, 2010 and it was a great day for the people to get together and do some Monster Jam!!! Whoomp Whooomp was the sound of the day because we had some new trucks joining us. Happy to see Josh come out with his Predator and War Wizard truck. Clint and Scotty were both sporting new Rippers. So everyone was excited to start racing so we got things going and had a full day of 4 rounds of racing and a Freestyle event after racing.
Track layout was like this: Start at the gate facing you, start and turn outside do a full turn and hit the cars and run down the straight on the inside, turn outside a full turn and hit the cars and run down the straight back into the start gate and make a full turn out and hit the cars again, run the straight on the inside and turn back outside then drag race to the end of the track and turn inside across the finish line.
Technical track and some speed running at the end , made it challenging and fun run at the end having a full speed corner to maintain and cross the finish. Nice design Mr. Zyck!
Our Novice Class stepped up this time and we had a very competitive group of trucks that were racing. Stephen brought out Blue Thunder and with a few improvements he really dominated the Novice Class this round. Zane was close in the hunt and Josh really did great not breaking any trucks....haha Just kidding Josh! You did great and gained some valuable points for the series.

The Michigan Monsters of RC had their first ever indoor carpet points series race on Saturday October 23rd, 2010 and we had a great time and excellent racing. Jon and I have been busy planning for this and are very happy on how things turned out. We had a accident with the timing system so that is being sent back for repair and we hope to have it completed by the November 13th race. We used one verbal race starter and dual stopwatches by the lane marshalls at the finish gates for timing purposes and everything went very smoothly and we were able to complete 4 rounds of racing. I was busy just making sure things ran smoothly and was not able to take a lot of pics or video, this will be resolved shortly as I need to get a better camera. I tried to take some nice action pics but mine all turned out blurry, I know Stephen took some nice shots and he is going to upload some soon.

First I would like to thank everyone for joining us for this event, we had a great group of people and you all are becoming such good friends along the way.
I personally would like to thank the following for helping me get this club started and a few others that helped in more ways than they will ever know. I would like to thank Jon my VP for all of his help and dedication for making this series the best it can be and for retiring his Electrician license at the end of the day...( LOL! ). To Brett Crawford who has been a huge help to me and answering our questions and offering advice and being our first manufacturer on board with our club, it is truly appreciated. To Will the admin of RCMT.net who continues to support us and give us forum space and we have official RCMT.net Crushed Car jumps. To Michael Poss who has given me the courage and support to take my dreams farther each and every day and to show me how the Radio Controlled Hobby community can come together and make dreams come true. Thanks to our other RCMTC chapters in Hawaii, Illinois and New York for their help and support of our Michigan chapter. To all my friends here locally who have come together and shown me how much fun it can be to have something we can all enjoy together and create memories for us all. Shane, Jake, Clint & Margaret, and Scotty you all are a great group of RC enthusiasts who I take pride in having you as members of the club. John and Stephen you guys traveled far to join us and I appreciate you taking the time to come out and have fun racing, you guys are great and we cannot wait to have you back next month.
Most of all I want to thank my wife Michelle and my children Austin, Zane and Katie. Without you all in my life none of this would have ever happened, I enjoy spending as much time with my kids as possible and to see Zane doing so well in something he loves is just the biggest prize of all.
We kept our track simple for the first race as many of our racers had never experienced carpet racing before. The venue is excellent and we have a storage room at the gym so we do not have to haul the carpet and jumps in and out every event.
The track area is 36' X 60' and offers 8 ft lanes. We were very happy with the carpet as it offered great traction and not too tacky. My neighbors made my lanes jumps and starting gate jumps out of solid wood cut at their saw mill, these will not get broke or fall apart! We will be having a different track layout for each series event.
Zane not only races but loves to take part in running the races, he will be a valuable asset to our club. We started at the gates and you make your way to the first crushed jump and turn inside hit the second crushed jump and make one more lap around the cars for 4 hits on the cars then through the finish gate. On the final race of each round we do 4 laps hitting the cars 8 times.
Until Round #2 of the Indoor Points Series for the Michigan Monsters of RC I thank you for your support of Michigan Monster Truck racing!
Joe
